How Dr Carpet approaches a fine rug
Our first job is to determine what the rug can safely tolerate. We look at the face fiber, foundation, fringe and side edges; note existing holes, tears, wear or prior repairs; review visible stains and odor; and ask what happened before the rug reached us. A rug that has been repeatedly spot-cleaned, exposed to pet urine, stored damp or treated with unknown chemistry may need a different plan from a similar-looking rug with ordinary soil.
For many fine, hand-knotted, large, heavily soiled or odor-affected rugs, pickup and controlled off-site care is the better option.
